STRAMILANO

The Stramilano is an annual athletics event taking place in Milan in the spring. The event is made up of three different categories including the Stramilano International Half Marathon, The Stramilano of the 50,000 which is a 10 km non-competitive run (or walk in my case) open to the general public and the Stramilianina - a 5 kilometer event for younger people.

When we first heard about this event from our flatmates - who are keen runners - we didn’t think much of it, however after going to Parco Sempione for a bike ride and seeing the track being set up prior to the event, we suddenly got a strong urge to participate. And so half an hour later we were picking up our t-shirts and running around to find sportswear the day before the race.

The event proved to be very popular in Milan as thousands of people of all ages - and dogs - turned up in front of the Duomo to participate in the three different races, also including professional runners. The weather was particularly nice on the day, and after completing the race we all received a medal and chocolate digestives to congratulate us on finishing.
